Scope
This Technical Guide provides guidance on how to carry out Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies. HAZOP studies should be carried out during the FEED and detailed design stages of a new development and also on modifications to existing plant.
1.2 Objectives
The objective of a HAZOP study is to systematically review the process in order to identify the potential hazards and operability problems, review the adequacy of the protective measures and either propose solutions or identify areas for further study. It is carried out by a team of experienced engineers chaired by a person who is experienced in the HAZOP technique.
