SCOPE

This SMEM (Site Manager Execution Manual) Practice describes the requirements and responsibilities for the establishment and implementation of the constructability process on a project.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of the Project Director/ Construction Operations Manager, Site Manager, Constructability coordinator, and Constructability team members are discussed in the following sections.

Project Director/Construction Operations Manager

The Project Director/Construction Operations  Manager is responsible for the overall Constructability process for the project.  The actual development and implementation of the process is delegated to the Site Manager.

Site Manager

The Site Manager, reporting to the Project Director/ Construction Operations Manager is responsible for implementation and management of the Constructability process including the following:

• Defining the Constructability work scope, organization, goals, objectives, and priorities.

• Conducting the Constructability Kickoff meeting.

• Developing and implementing the Constructability plan in accordance with project requirements.

• Ensuring that project requirements are understood and followed by all team members.

• Managing the Constructability process in accordance with project requirements.

• Developing a philosophy of teamwork among all team members.

• Developing and issuing the Construction Execution Plan.

• Developing and issuing the Construction Project Procedures.

Constructability  Facilitator

The Constructability Facilitator, reporting to the Site Manager, is responsible for administering and facilitating the Constructability process including the following:
